The Y&F SC Team will be running things until we find our Young & Free South Carolina Spokesperson

We are launching Young & Free South Carolina today and we are psyched. We've been working on Young & Free South Carolina for the last few months and it has been very hard to keep it all secret. It's great to be able to talk about it now!

There has been a lot of talk about shifting the focus to the younger generation in the credit union world. The reality is that the population is getting older. The same is true for our core member base. Today we are doing something about it. Today, we are making a real effort to reinvent ourselves and to connect with an entirely new generation of potential members. Young & Free South Carolina is an initiative to help us build lasting relationships with the future leaders of South Carolina and to position the credit union for future growth and success.

So, what is Young & Free South Carolina?

1. It's a totally free account package for the under 25 crowd. We call it the MY Accounts. We know it is tough to make ends meet when you are just starting out. To help out, we are forgoing all service charges to give members that are 18 to 25 a head start. Click here to learn more about it.

2. It's a search for a spokesperson. Young & Free South Carolina is much more than just an account, it's really more of a feeling or sensation of what it means to be young and free. This is why we want to hire a spokesperson who can be our eyes and ears on the ground and help South Carolina Federal Credit Union create relevant products and services for the 25 and under crowd. Internally, the biggest question about Young & Free South Carolina has been how will we connect? It's all fine and dandy to introduce a new totally free account, but it won't make any difference if no one hears about it! Young people today aren't reading the newspaper or listening to the radio. Kids are tuning into advertising-free satellite radio and iPods and rather than sitting in front of the TV, they are online connecting through social networks. Getting people to this website is key to the success of the initiative.

This is where you can help. Let's get the word out together. We want to encourage everyone to send an e-mail (or ten) to your friends. Tell them about our new product and the spokesperson search. Every little bit will help.
