This weekend in SC

What are you doing this weekend? Any plans? If not, there are many great events happening around South Carolina for you to partake in. I have compiled a list...please enjoy...

  • Do you like grits? My "Canadian-ness" doesn't allow me to enjoy them, but if you do you can attend The World Grits Festival in St. George this weekend. Tens of thousands of people...yes...TENS of THOUSANDS of people are expected to attend. That's a lot of grits! It will take place Friday from 10am-10pm, Saturday from 9am-10pm, and Sunday from Noon-5pm.
  • This week is Navy Week here in Charleston and many great events will be happening both Saturday and Sunday. The most anticipated event is probably the air show on Sunday featuring the Blue Angels. You can learn all the details including times and locations for Navy Week here.
  • You can head over to your neighbors house to pet their cat. No? That doesn't sound good? Okay...it was just a suggestion.
  • The 2010 Family Circle Cup (that's tennis) closes out this weekend with matches tonight, Saturday, AND Sunday! If when you hear the word love, "tennis" pops into your head before "wife", you should probably attend! (and then go buy your wife flowers)
  • You can also check out the "Game, Set, Rock" fundraiser at the Family Circle Cup on Saturday night where you'll see some famous faces such as John McEnroe and Anna Kournikova. A Charleston favorite, The Blue Dogs, will be providing the entertainment.
  • You could always go gallivanting around town introducing yourself to passerby.
  • Some very philanthropic college students will be hosting a pancake breakfast at the Applebee's on River's Avenue in North Charleston on Saturday from 8am-10am. It is $5 a person for a bottomless plate of pancakes. Delicious! These students will be your servers and also dishwashers! They are trying to raise money to go on a mission trip to Romania to build an orphanage for under privileged children. So, go chow down on some pancakes and help a great cause at the same time...I know I'll be there!
  • Needtobreath, Will Hoge, and Matt Hires will be playing at the Music Farm in Charleston on Saturday and Sunday. It's going to be a pretty sick concert so you should definitely get your tickets now! Tickets are $15 and you can call The Music Farm at 577-6989 for more details.

Get out and enjoy South Carolina this weekend! There's no reason not to!

Darryl
